LRHS has been chosen as a host site for Form Your Future Florida. On Tuesday, November 7 from 6 – 8 PM, representatives from the state, volunteers, and I will be in the main media center for seniors and parents who have questions about the FAFSA or who would like to apply for the FAFSA. If a senior and/or parents wish to attend, they are to RSVP to Ms. Pilkey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I know that I have gone into some of your classes to speak about the FAFSA and that I gave you the information on how to apply for you and your parent’s FSAIDs and the website to apply for the FAFSA. I also know that several of you have already filed your FAFSA. However, if you or your parents have questions, then this is a good time for you to take advantage of this opportunity. It is an especially excellent opportunity for those of you who do not have a computer or internet at your home. I am copying and pasting part of what I gave you in class so that you can either get a head start on things and/or so that you will know what to bring with you on the night of the 7th of November.

After three to five business days, go back into FAFSA, log in, and then you should see, “View your SAR (Student Aid Report)”. If your EFC is “0,” then you qualify for the PELL grant (approximately $6,000) that you can use toward your college tuition next year. The 2018-19 FAFSA opens October 1. Money is first come, first served. Colleges also have deadlines for receiving the FAFSA, so check each college’s website for the deadline.
